Rudlin Torah Academy is a Jewish Day School serving Jewish youth of all backgrounds in grades K-8, girls in grades 9-12 through its high school division Shaarei Torah of Richmond, and boys in grades 9-12 through its high school division, Yeshiva of Virginia.

Shalach Manot

The book of Esther tells us that the Jews of Shushan celebrated their deliverance from Haman by sending gifts — called Shalach Manot — to one another. Today, this mode of sharing the joy of Purim is one of the central mitzvot of the holiday.

Run-A-Latke

RTA held it's 3rd annual 5K Run-a-Latke race on December 11, 2011.  The race was a huge success, with more runners than in either of the previous years.  Thank you to all of our Run-a-Latke sponsors and runners for helping us support such a great cause.  Without you, we would have just sat around eating donuts!

RTA Alumnae Receive Multiple Honors

RTA alumnae Ellie and Samantha Winkelmann (l. to r.) earned honors and recognition in the J.R. Tucker French Immersion Program. Samantha received the prestigious Jefferson Book Award from UVA, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Ellie was inducted as Class President for the third consecutive year and also earned the school’s Spanish I Award for highest GPA.

RTA and Yeshiva of Virginia Alumnus Ari Lewis Scores Megahit!

It's another Chanukah miracle: a small group of Jewish men defy the odds and emerge victorious. The Maccabeats, 14 current and former students from Yeshiva University. Their hit song "Candlelight," a take-off on Taio Cruz's "Dynamite," has gone viral and reached over almost four million hits on YouTube.

The Maccabeats are everywhere these days. The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, CNN.

RTA Librarian Wins First Prize in Virginia

Rudlin Torah Academy’s new librarian, Wendy Lusk, was recently awarded first prize and a $1000 grant for the Virginia Educational Media Association/Follett “Weed and Feed” grant. The award was given at VEMA’s fall conference in Hampton, where school librarians from across Virginia came together to learn, share, and network.

RTA Student Wins 2010 Private School Regional Spelling Bee

Asher Ackman, an 8th grade student at RTA, won the regional private school spelling bee sponsored by the Richmond Times Dispatch. As winner of the region, Asher represented Richmond at the state level of the competition, held at the Library of Virginia.

RTA Alumna Makes Excellence A Habit

RTA graduate Juliana Moskowitz, a rising junior at JR Tucker’s Spanish Immersion Program, was awarded the honor of Outstanding Spanish Immersion Sophomore at The Center for World Languages for the 2009-10 school year.

This makes two in a row for Juliana, who was recognized last year as the program’s Outstanding Freshman!

Strong Performance by YVA in $100,000 Stock Market Challenge for 2009-10 

YVA had an impressive showing in its inaugural participation in the Yeshiva University - Sy Syms School of Business $100,000.00 Stock Market Challenge. Over 160 teams from 36 schools nationwide participated in this competition, and YVA had three teams finish in the Top 20, with the highest placing at #6 overall.

Rabbi Klestzick Serves as Chairman for National Convention of Jewish Educators

RTA’s Principal, Rabbi Hal Klestzick, recently served as Chairman of the 2010 National Convention of Torah Umesorah, the National Society for Hebrew Day Schools. Torah Umesorah is the largest organization of Jewish schools in the United States, serving over 700 schools with more than 150,000 students.
